Would you like to join an Garda Siochana?
Garda Trainee Recruitment is now open. Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan is quoted in the Irish Times as stating that there will be a phased recruitment drive over the next two years aiming to hire and train up to 1,600 new Gardai. Minister Flanagan stated -
“To give effect to the Government’s commitment to increase the strength of An Garda Síochána to 15,000 members by 2021, the Garda Commissioner has asked the Public Appointments Service to run a new Garda recruitment campaign.”
In a bid to reflect the diverse communities in Ireland, Minister Flanagan also called on minority groups to apply. It was also acknowledged that there is now a wide range of special units within An Garda Síochána. These units provide exciting opportunities to specialise in areas such as cybercrime, child protection, counter-terrorism; counter-fraud; international policing and more.
